Meadow's Edge one of top three Title I schools in Indiana

Penn-Harris-Madison’s Meadow’s Edge Elementary School (K-5) was recently recognized by the Indiana Department of Education as being one of the top three Title I schools in Indiana for exceptional progress and student performance. There are nearly 900 pre-K through eighth grade Title I schools in the state. The IDOE used student performance on ISTEP+, an interview with the school’s principal, Jayson Snyder, and a school site visit to make the determination. More than 80 percent of Meadow’s Edge students passed math and English/language arts in ISTEP in 2013. 

Dr. Jerry Thacker named 2013 Outstanding Educator

Dr. Jerry Thacker has been named the 2013 Outstanding Educator by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS). He received the award at a banquet in Indianapolis.  Dr. Thacker was recognized for his “leadership in your school district and community that has enhanced educational opportunities for all the children, staff, and parents of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation,” said JT Coopman, executive director of IAPSS.

Discovery named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2013

Discovery Middle School is one of 286 schools recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School. "Excellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers,' said Secretary Duncan. The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in student achievement.
