Families offered assistance with lunch and textbook fees

We encourage families who are struggling to meet expenses to apply for the National School Lunch Program’s free and reduced-price lunch. The application is easy to fill out (only one per household is required) and the application includes a place to indicate that you would also like to apply for textbook assistance (see Part 6. Other Benefits, mark “Yes” and sign where needed on the application).

Toddler Time classes offered for 1 to 3 year olds

Toddler Time is an activity time for children ages 1-3 years old and a parent or caregiver. Toddler Time is led by the students enrolled in Penn High School's Child Development class and it is designed to help students learn about toddlers through direct interaction and observations with them. There is no cost to participate in Toddler Time. Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis. Toddler Time begins in December. Times and dates are listed below:

Penn's Peter DeKever named Top Ten Teacher in Indiana

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) has announced the names of ten public school educators as finalists for the 2014 Indiana Teacher of the Year. Among them is Penn-Harris-Madison’s Teacher of the Year, Mr. Peter (Pete) DeKever. Mr. DeKever teaches English at Penn High School and is a renowned academic coach with a legacy of winning state championships. Coach DeKever has 13 state championships as Spell Bowl Coach and 12 state championships as Academic Super Bowl Social Studies coach. 

What's new at Penn-Harris-Madison for school year 2014-2015

Instruction and programs
Every Penn High School student will receive a new HP Chromebook 11 laptop computer to facilitate instruction and communication with the teacher. Students will receive the Chromebooks in English class on the first or second day of school.
Elementary schools received 55 carts with laptops for student use.
Kindergarten teachers have access to carts of iPad minis for use with students.
An Early Learning Academy Preschool at Mary Frank Elementary School will serve four-year-olds in a full-day program.
