Six P-H-M schools awarded Four Stars

The Indiana Department of Education has announced the 2010-2011 Four Star Schools and Penn-Harris-Madison has six; Discovery Middle School, Horizon Elementary School, Madison Elementary School, Northpoint Elementary School, Prairie Vista Elementary School and Schmucker Middle School. Indiana has 1,780 public schools and only 162 of them earned Four Star status. A Four Star school must fall into the top 25th percentile for End of Course Assessment passing percentages when compared with schools statewide. A school must also have made Adequate Yearly Progress under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
