Community resources for students and parents

There are numerous community resources that can benefit our students and parents. We will post information here as it becomes available so please check back often.

AstroCamp is a week-long stargazing adventure at which youths aged 9-13 learn the night sky and observe deep sky objects with quality telescopes. During the day they enjoy summer programs at YMCA Camp Eberhart in Three Rivers, MI, and attend two periods of astronomy-related activities led by a team of experienced astronomy educators.  In the evening, AstroCamp kids get their hands on telescopes and target celestial highlights embedded in the dark sky.  Visit to see if this unique experience, offered only July 20-26 in 2014, might be a good fit for you.  Space (at AstroCamp) is limited.
Michiana Star Party
The Michiana Astronomical Society Inc. will host the sixth Michiana Star Party the weekend of May 30-June1 at Dr. T.K. Lawless Park in Vandalia, MI.  Experienced amateur astronomers and new telescope users alike gather Friday in a grassy field where they set up telescopes of all types and sizes alongside their campsites.  You don’t need a telescope, for there is much fine equipment brought by other attendees.  On Saturday you can enjoy guest speakers in the afternoon, or take advantage of the amenities of the park.  Saturday night the observing resumes anew.  Pictures, descriptions, and a link to the registration are at
