Title I
Title I - What is it?
- Title I is designed to provide financial assistance to LEAs and schools with high numbers or high percentages of economically disadvantaged children to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. More than 50,000 public schools across the country use Title I funds to provide additional academic support and learning opportunities to help low-achieving children master challenging curricula and meet state standards in core academic subjects. We have identified five Penn-Harris-Madison Elementary Schools as Title I Schools. Walt Disney and Meadow's Edge are "Schoolwide" Title I Schools, indicating that their percentage of free and reduced lunch students is greater than 40%, and they have an approved Title I Schoowide School Improvement Plan in place which allows any student in the building to receive services. Three of our schools are "Targeted Instruction" Title I Schools. They are Elsie Rogers, Moran, and Elm Road Elementary. These building receive funding to provide services to a identified list of academically at risk students, and their parents.
